GREEN TEAM

The Tree of Life Green Team is an active church ministry team. Our Mission Statement is

We seek to:

1) Make the facilities of our church more environmentally friendly
2) Make our congregation more environmentally aware
3) Work with other churches and community organizations to advocate for better use of environmental resources

We were the first church in Elmhurst to earn the Earth Flag, awarded by Scarce and DuPage County

We do ongoing recycling events, educational programs, Earth Day celebrations and discussion series for our members. We can also be seen around town as active members in the Elmhurst Cool Cities Coalition, marching in the Memorial Day Parade picking up recycling, or advertising our annual Green Garden Fair

We’ve taken the pledge to not use chemical pesticides or fertilizers on our lawn and planted native plants on our grounds

The Lord has blessed us with a beautiful world in which to live and we are constantly learning how better to protect and preserve his gift

HERITAGE BUNCH

The Heritage Bunch is a conversation and prayer group. Meets every other Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to noon in the church parlor.

WOMEN'S GATHERING

Throughout the year our church hosts women’s gatherings to promote personnel growth, community building and connecting with God. Gatherings always have a guest speaker that inspires and motivates the women present to grow their faith on their life journey. Each gathering is a great place to network, and enjoy delicious food.

BIBLE STUDY

CHILDREN AND YOUTH

First Congregational joyously strives to educate, guide and nurture children so they can and will grow in their faith. On Sunday mornings, our worship service begins at 10:00 am with all ages in the Sanctuary. Our Children’s Sermon takes place early in worship. Children (toddlers-Grade 6) will make their way to classrooms for Sunday School while parents and older youth remain in the Sanctuary for worship.

DE COLORES

Children from more than six surrounding suburbs come together for a week of fun and interactive activities. This program introduces youngsters to specking and listening to Spanish while also learning about Latin America and the Caribbean. The program is entering its fifth year and has been steadily growing. First Congregational United Church of Christ in Elmhurst is proud to be living out its mission to equip children to be Global Citizens. Registration opens Friday, March 1, 2018. Space is limited. Please use the convenient online registration form below.
